The Mob

There are a variety of activities for the young people (aged 12-18) at Wade Street, these include:

Sunday mornings

An alternative to the main service, this involves spending time together, praying for each other and learning about God using music, art, drama, DVD clips, discussions etc.

On the third Sunday of the month we go to the main service so that we can worship and share communion with the rest of the church family. Church Mouse

11-12pm MOB room

Sunday evenings

An opportunity to spend time together in a more chilled out youth group setting. This includes activities like cooking, games, music and movies.

Every two months we also attend an event called Resonate (www.resonatelichfield.com), which is a youth event for young people in Lichfield, this includes worship, a speaker and opportunities to meet Christians from other churches in town. The next event will be at Lichfield Methodist Church, 6:45-9pm, Sunday 13th January 2008. Wade Street will be hosting the one after on Sunday 9th March 2008.

6:30-8:30pm MOB room

Cell group

A chance to catch up with each other in the middle of the week, to learn more about God through bible study and discussions etc., as well as praying for each other. In 2008 we plan to help in the community for one of these sessions once a month, for example

Annual weekend away

We go away as a group for a weekend each year, which tends to be in September. Last year (2008) we went to Beaudesert activity centre and activities included crate stacking, aerial runway, midnight walk, assault course and looking at what it means to be a disciple. We go to a different place each year, for example Edale in the Peak District in 2007 and a youth centre in Alton in 2006.

Soul Survivor

We went to Soul Survivor for the 2nd time last year (2008), it is a Christian festival aimed at young people (www.soulsurvivor.com/uk). There was loads to do including gigs, seminars, a skate park, cafes and opportunities to worship and hear speakers with everyone else in the main tent. The weather was much better than a previous year meaning that we had to deal with the heat than mud, which made a nice change! We are looking forward to going again this year.

Social action

As well as having fun together and developing our faith it is also important to demonstrate our faith in practical ways.

In October 2007 we completed the Slum Survivor challenge, this involved sleeping outside in a slum that built ourselves for a whole weekend, eating a limited diet of rice and lentils and completing a number of challenges. We managed to raise £1000 for charity and you can see what happened at www.youtube.com/watch?v=KctfLFTOfLI.

We try to get involved in the church community by serving refreshments once a month after the service, by helping to produce the church magazine and by leading or getting involved in services. See http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1XAF3UWNJb8&feature=channel_page and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ntVMNiqldM&feature=channel_page for example of involvement in church services.

We also do an annual Social Action weekend with other churches in the area, which involves helping the local community in practical ways, for example free car washes, children's activities and painting and decorating. See http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q2npYSsEb-I&feature=channel_page for the video of our 2008 social action weekend.

This year a small group are going to Durban, South Africa on a short term mission trip www.soulinthecitydurban.com.

Other trips and social activities

We also do a variety of trips and social activities over the year, this includes Alton Towers, the snow dome, music event, cinema, meals together and sleepovers at the church.
